My ‘artistic vision’ essentially evolves from the way I see the world. I try to capture moments in time, fleeting scenes or natural beauty that I feel will stay with me for a variety of reasons. Sometimes the connection is sentimental or emotional, sometimes it is simply a view or an angle that captures my attention or surprises me and which I need to explore further. I immerse myself in my paintings, and I love the challenges of recreating a three dimensional entity or aspect in a two dimensional way.

At other times I just enjoy examining in detail what I consider to be the complex and harmonious elements of the natural world. I paint to experience a more personal connection to what is around me, to see more closely something which might otherwise have been overlooked or forgotten. The process is completely absorbing and allows me to re-discover a balance and a stillness that is my personal meditation. Sometimes these thoughts lead to more imaginative ideas which translate into fantasy.

If in so doing I can create a composition that is in itself pleasing, or conveys a message or connects with you in some way, then that is truly special.
